Meet Our Music Department!
At Collegium, students begin their music education in Kindergarten. As they move up through the grades, they have the opportunity to perform in many different ensembles and study different areas of Music. For more information about the talented and passionate music educators who teach these ensembles and classes, please read below!
Elementary School (K-6)Ms. Bernadette Tabakelis | email | website
Ms. Tabakelis has been part of the CCS Music Department for 6 years. She teaches elementary band for 4th through 6th grade. She received a Bachelor of Science degree in Music Education from West Chester University. Additionally, she received a Masters of Science degree in Education with a Concentration in Integrated Technology in the classroom from Walden University. Mrs. Stephanie Kistler | email Mrs. Kistler is in her 8th year at CCS. She teaches 2nd through 4th grade music classes and choir at the 486 building. Mrs. Kistler completed her Bachelor's and Master's Music Education degree at The University of Delaware and plays the violin and piano. Mr. Matthew Sidilau | email Mr. Sidilau is in his 2nd year at CCS. He currently teaches kindergarten, 1st grade, and half of 2nd grade in the 150 building, along with running the 2nd grade choir. Mr. Sidilau completed his Music Education degree at Ithaca College and plays the trombone. Mr. Chris Swantek | email Mr. Swantek joined us in April 2021 and is in his first official full year of teaching. He teaches 5th - 6th Grade Music classes in our 500 Building, directs the 5th-6th Grade Choir, and is the director of the Collegium Junior Center Stage Theater Program. Mr. Swantek completed his Music Education degree at West Chester University and plays the saxophone. Mr. Eric Liebenthal | email Mr. Liebenthal is in his 2nd year of teaching at CCS. He teaches 2nd-4th grade music classes and runs the 3rd-4th grade choir at the 150 building. Mr. Liebenthal completed his Music Education degree at West Chester University and plays the clarinet and has a percussion background. Mrs. Denise Ulp | email Mrs. Ulp is in her 8th year at CCS. She teaches kindergarten, 1st grade, and half of 2nd grade. Along with those, she directs the 2nd grade choir. Mrs. Ulp got her music education degree from West Chester University and voice is her primary instrument. |
Middle (7/8) & High (9-12) SchoolMr. Ryan Lowrie | email
This is Mr. Lowrie's 2nd year at Collegium. He is the director of our Middle School Bands and also teaches 7th Grade Music Production. Mr. Lowrie completed his Music Education and Conducting degree at West Chester University and plays the tuba. Mr. Lowrie also teaches concert band at Ursinus College. Mrs. Dawn Jones | email This is Mrs. Jones' 6th year at CCS. She directs the Middle School Orchestra and also teaches Middle School Music classes in the 515 Building. Mrs. Jones completed her Music Education degree at Immaculata University and plays the violin. Mr. Nicholas Motter | email Mr. Motter is in his 6th year at CCS. He teaches the high school concert band, jazz band, and other music elective courses. Mr. Motter runs the basketball band and is the supervisor of the Tri-M Music Honors Society. He completed his Music Education degree at West Chester University and is currently studying for his masters at University of the Arts. Mr. Motter is a percussionist and performs with the West Chester Community Band, Main Line Symphony Orchestra, and Immaculata Symphony. Ms. Jaclyn Urbas | email | website Ms. Urbas is in her 12th year of teaching at Collegium. She teaches the middle and high school choirs. Ms. Urbas completed her Music Education degree at West Chester University and plays the clarinet and piano. |
